The following citations are personal recommendations for works that make significant or special contributions to the theory, instruction, and practice of living history interpretation in museums, parks, and historic sites. This is not an exhaustive bibliography. While inclusion signifies that locating and reading these sources is worthwhile, omissions should not be construed as rejection. I have excluded articles from ALHFAM Proceedings--perhaps the best single source of literature on living history--because they are too numerous for this short list and they are comprehensively indexed in the ALHFAM Proceedings INDEX, which is available online. Likewise, I have found many informative writings in History News, of which only a few are included here.

Suggestions for additions are welcome. I am interested in locating informative articles from publications such as InterpEdge, Legacy, and various international and regional magazines and newsletters to which I have limited or no access.

Permission is freely given to download one copy of this bibliography for personal use. The name and address of the compiler and the Association for Living Historical Farms and Agricultural Museums (ALHFAM) must appear in any and all copies. This document is not to be reproduced in multiple without the express permission of Stacy F. Roth and ALHFAM. If you would like to reproduce this bibliography, contact Stacy. Most requests will be speedily approved. Likewise, send any comments and suggestions to frstprsn@voicenet.com (Stacy Roth).
